Ten things a wise, old man once told me

1.  Nature is always a big player:  It is always too hot or too cold, too wet or too dry, too cloudy or too sunny, it's always too something......deal with it.

2.  Anything you see in somebody else's yard that looks really nice, has some degree of 'TLC'.

3.  There's some truth in the old saying that the grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence, but not much.

4.  If you want to be a Gardener/Decorator, you better have the patience of a stone.  You foul something up, you may have to wait 365 days to see it again.

5.  You can water till the cows come home, but if you don't have good drainage, you're doomed.

6.  If you think you know everything, you've lived too long.  You can learn something new everyday.

7.  If you're using those new (or old) control products, read and follow directions.  (weed, insect, or disease)  Always remember - 'MORE IS NOT BETTER'.

8.  Bees are our friends, except for those nasty ground hornets.  Try telling that to somebody with a bee phobia.

9.  The weather is always different from year to year.  What we had this year, is usually different from next year's conditions.  Different things die each winter, seldom the same type plant (butterfly bush, lavander,  holly, etc) We don't really know why.  We call it "Winterkill" when we're baffled....Refer back to #1.

10.  'Tender Loving Care', 'Labor of Love' and those other similar terms make it sound so easy.....it's not...Refer back to #2.
